    Torque Converters How does a Comet torque converter work? The drive clutch is activated by centrifugal force from the engine crankshaft. The movable sheave of the clutch is forced in as the RPM of the engine is increased. This contacts the drive belt.

    The drive belt will then be forced to a larger diameter within the clutch sheaves, thus pulling it to a smaller diameter within the driven unit sheaves. The movable sheave of the driven unit is forced out, allowing the belt to seek its smaller, high speed ratio diameter. As this happens, the speed from the engine transferred to the final drive is increased. Model 20 Series (Symmetrical) The model 20 uses a 3/4' top width belt. The belt mass lends substantially to the driving ability of the system, especially in cases where added torque ability is required without danger of slipping the belt. The belt mass of 3/4' top width is especially helpful in applications of low speed, added power requirements such as tractor mowers, off road dune buggies, mini bikes, ATV's, and go-karts. This is a conventional type system featuring 13째 angle sheave faces for a 26째 collective angle.

    In the torque sensitive design, a cam actuator in the driven reacts to increased torque demands by downshifting without loss of engine RPM. In this way, the engine continues to operate at peak power range for all but the most severe loads when it will shift into peak torque range.     Mounting can be on a flat, fixed plane, requiring only minimum displacement.     BIG AND POWERFUL Posted by corey on 16th Nov 2017 First thought of this torque converter was. Using it on an off-road go kart with an 18HP Duromax. The converter fit perfectly but I did have to make several modifications to accommodate the torque converter and align the belt correctly, no fault of the converter just my particular application I had to make several changes.

Posted by Sam from Utah on 16th May 2017 Upgrading the Manco Go Kart with a GX390 and needed something that was all in one without needing to figure out the Jackshaft for the 40 series with the limited space (this is the only true 40 series kit I found with a back plate).

    Right out of the box you can tell that the part is high quality and added bonus, comes with everything you need to mount it on your engine. The freak' in thing feels bullet proof and I have no worries of torque flexing. I also love how fast this thing shipped out to me. I got a FedEx shipment notice within 20 minutes after I submitted my order. Great place, plan on using them again for future builds. This works awesome on 16hp gokart.

    Posted by craig k on 15th May 2017 This is just what I needed for my 2 seater 16hp gokart. I but several 'heavy duty clutches on and burn them right up. Found the series 40 and it bolted right up. It is amazing!

    There is no lag at all. Im able to go about 45mph with a 32t sprocket. Can't say enough good about it.
